Chapter History

The Kappa Lambda Chapter of Sigma Kappa was established in 2004 at the University North Georgia. We are so excited to be welcomed onto this amazing campus, and to a part of this Panhellenic team!

Every year our chapter participates in the annual Dahlonega Gold Rush Days during the month October. We sell a variety of items at our booth and all the proceeds go towards Alzheimer's Research. Also during Gold Rush Days we host an Alumni Luncheon for Kappa Lambda Alumni. Our sisters love getting to meet older Alumni and spending time with them.

Also we participate annually in the Atlanta Alzheimer's Walk. We love meeting up with surrounding chapters, and meeting people who share the same spirit with us to raise awareness for this great cause. Each year we have raised over $3,000. We are proud to say that this number keeps growing every year.

The Kappa Lambda Chapter has adopted a new local philanthropy, Chelsey Park Health & Rehabilitation. This philanthropy will fit in closely with our philanthropies Alzheimer's and Gerontology. We will be partnering with Chelsey Park to help raise money for them and participate in events they hold!

Every year our chapter has an invite social that is a huge success across our campus. It is our annual My-Tie Social. Each sister invites three dates and sends them baskets with candy and other items, but most importantly a decorated tie. The night of the social everyone shows up and then tries to find out who their date is based on matching ties!

Kappa Lambda is very competitive, you can tell by our intramural sports record. Sisters enjoy playing and cheering on each other in the various intramural sports year-round.
